2016 Silver Rush 50 Run and MTB this weekend
CMC Leadville runners are pleased to see the Leadville Race Series underway, continuing on with this weekend’s 2016 Silver Rush 50 Run and MTB races. Athletes will line up at the Dutch Henri sledding hill on Saturday and Sunday mornings to test their mettle. Both races start just north of our campus, and will literally take your breath away!
The Silver Rush 50 races start and finish within steps of the CMC Leadville campus. The 50 miles between occur in the historic mining district east of town, following wooded single track and rocky mining roads. Racers will have unparalleled views of Turquoise Lake, Mts. Elbert and Massive, and dozens of other peaks in the Sawatch and Mosquito ranges. Impressively, the entire course is above 10,000 feet.
Whether you’re racing, crewing or just passing through, the CMC Leadville Running Club welcomes you to our peaceful mountain town. Club Secretary Katie will be lining up for the second time on Sunday morning. Coach Brungardt will be on campus, assisting the Geology Club with parking operations. He will be more than happy to speak with any current or prospective students interested in our trail system or upcoming running club events, so send him a message or just stop on by.
We’re glad the summer is finally here, and that the summer trail racing season is underway!
