NIRCA approves CMC Running Club Membership
We are happy to announce that the Colorado Mountain College Running Club has been welcomed into the National Intercollegiate Running Club Association (NIRCA). This is a big step for the club moving forward. Being a part of NIRCA gives the club the opportunity to compete in a regional and national championship format against other collegiate clubs across the US.
NIRCA describes themselves as, “the governing body and central point of communication for the college running community.” The grassroots organization promotes networking and friendly competition amongst collegiate running, cross country, and track clubs. NIRCA coordinates many events, including a fall cross country season, Cross Country Championship Series, Road and Track Nationals, and all-club conferences.
Being a part of NIRCA gives CMC students the opportunity to travel for meets, compete against other like minded college students, and gain experience in leadership, club development, and networking at the national level.
NIRCA club programs are not as intense or rigorous as formal cross country and track and field programs. Being a part of our running club allows CMC students to continue their running careers that they had in high school or college. Students can define and fulfill their own personal goals with the support of a coach, with a healthy school and life balance.
Our club values are:
- Personal development
- Healthy competition
- Enjoyment of the mountain air
Please contact Coach Darren with any questions about joining the club or what NIRCA means for our runners.
