Racing success in snowshoes and on the trails
Colorado Cup Snowshoe Championship 1/28 on the Leadville Campus
Racers from all over the state ascended to the CMC Leadville campus to take on the snow and hills in the club’s annual Colorado Cup Snowshoe Championship. Racers from as far north as Fort Collins and as far west as Grand Junction made the trek. It was bitterly cold with pre-race temps hovering just above single digits. CMC Racers Jason Gomez (2nd in the 800, 1st in the 400, and third in the medley relay), Aaron Hagan (5K), and Kirk McMurray (10K) all competed. This was the first snowshoe race for all three CMC Running Club Racers.
The 5K race was won by Jared Leblow from Grand Junction and Lanie Szuch from Evergreen. The 10K race was won by Leadville’s Bryan Kerl and Evergreen’s Brandy Erholtz. Erholtz is a former snowshoe national champion and one of the all time greats in the sport of snowshoeing. All results can be found here.
